Horseradish refers to the thick, whitish, pungent root of a coarse Eurasian plant (Armoracia rusticana) in the mustard family. The leaves of the plant are edible but are rarely eaten.

A term prepared horseradish generally refers to a sauce or condiment made from grated horseradish and vinegar. A sauce made from cream and prepared horseradish is a popular condiment in the United Kingdom.
