Arrowroot powder, also known as arrowroot starch or arrowroot flour, is a starch obtained from several tropical plants.

It is a light powder usually used as a thickening agent, in place of corn starch. When used with fruit, it produces a clear gel. It also prevents ice crystals from forming in ice cream, with a neutral taste and isn't weakened by acidic ingredients or affected by freezing.

Arrowroot powder is often found in recipes that also contain coconut oil and plantains

Substitution for 2 teaspoon arrowroot powder:

1 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch

Note: Substitutions are a suggestion only and may not work well with all recipes. Use your best judgment!
