Speculaas (Dutch Spice Cookies)

These cookies have a variety of spices in them!

Original recipe serves 12.

Scaling (About scaling and units)
Halve it | Double it | Triple it | Reset
Ingredients

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg(s)
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon allspice
1/8 teaspoon cloves ; ground
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ginger
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda

Preparation:

Cream together the butter, vanilla and sugars. Beat in the egg and add the remaining ingredients. Stir until blended well. Shape the dough into a log. Wrap it in wax paper and chill overnight. Slice into 1/8 inch or 1/4 inch pieces. Place them onto a lightly greased or nonstick cookie sheet. Bake at 350F (175C)for 10 to 15 minutes. Original recipe makes 36 cookies.
