Szechwan Shrimp

A simple, spicy shrimp dish with east Asian flavors.

Original recipe serves 4.

Ingredients

12 ounces shrimp ; cooked, with tails removed
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon ginger
2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
4 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon honey
4 cloves garlic ; minced
1/4 cup green onions ; sliced
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper ; crushed, flakes

Preparation:

Make the sauce by combining the soy sauce, pepper, ginger, water, honey and ketchup in a small bowl, and set aside.

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and green onions. Cook 30 seconds. Add the shrimp, and toss mixture to coat with oil.

Stir in the sauce. Cook and stir until sauce is thick and bubbly. Serve with rice, if desired.
