Cedar planks can be used to add more flavor and smoke into fish (especially salmon), steaks, poultry and vegetables during cooking. These are usually used by placing the item being cooked onto a plank and cooking over a grill.
To prevent the planks from burning, be sure to soak the planks in water for an hour or more prior to grilling.
Choose smooth, untreated planks with no splinters or knot holes.
