Pomegranate juice is a sweet juice derived from the pomegranate fruit.

Pomegranate juice has shown to have cholesterol reduction effects in small studies. It also may have similar anti-artery clogging properties similar to that of red wine, purple grape juice and black tea due to its high levels of antioxidants. However, these possible benefits should be weighed against its high sugar content, which also makes it high in calories.

Pomegranate juice is served as a fresh juice and is also often used in cooking, especially in Persian cuisine.

Pomegranate juice was originally a key ingredient in grenadine syrup, although other fruit juices from berries are now used.

Pomegranate juice is often found in recipes that also contain tarragon, cranberries, ham, filet mignon, figs, dried and beef broth
