  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey ; plus 2 tbsp.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup walnuts ; chopped
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon water ; hot
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup confectioner's sugar ; sifted
  • 1 egg(s) ; beaten

     Prep: 15 min | Cook: 20 min | Ready in: 35 min
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 15x10x1 inch baking pan and set aside. In large bowl combine flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and baking soda. Add oil, 1/4 cup of honey and egg. Stir until combined. Stir in walnuts. Press into prepared pan using waxed paper or hands. Bake 10 to 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Meanwhile, combine confectioner's sugar, butter, vanilla, hot water and remaining honey in a small bowl. Beat until smooth. Spread over the warm bars. Cool completely before cutting into bars. Makes 24 bars.

    Be sure use an electric mixer for this to ensure the flour mixture is sufficiently moistened since there is not a lot of liquid. The flour mixture should be crumbly and most before pressing it into the pan.
