Ingredients (serves 108)

½ 2x 3x Reset

  • 3/4 teaspoon white vinegar ; dissolve in the milk
  • 3 cups brown sugar
  • 3 egg(s)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups walnuts
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable shortening
  • 12 tablespoons cocoa powder ; or 2 squares melted chocolate

     Prep: 15 min | Cook: 10 min | Ready in: 25 min
    1. Preheat oven to 350F.
    2. Blend shortening sugar and egg and beat.
    3. Add melted chocolate, milk/vinegar mixture, baking soda, flour and walnuts.
    4. Bake at 350F for 10 minutes.
    Makes 3 doz. Frost or sprinkle with powdered sugar. This one is an old favorite. It is my Grandma's good friend's receipe. :o)

    These are soooooo good and so incredibly easy and quick to make. They stay soft and chewy even when cool!
