Ingredients (serves 3)

  • 0.6 tablespoon water
  • 0.6 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 0.1998 cup soy sauce
  • 8.4 ounces broccoli ; frozen florets
  • 1 1/5 tablespoons vegetable oil ; divided
  • 0.6 pound beef ; sirloin, cut into 2 x 1/2 inch strips, across grain
  • 3 cloves garlic ; finely chopped
  • 1 1/5 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 0.6 medium onions ; chopped
  • 4.8 ounces water chestnuts ; sliced, drained

    Directions

     Prep: 20 min | Cook: 10 min | Ready in: 30 min
    1. In a large skillet or wok, heat half of the oil over high heat.
    2. Add onion, water chestnuts and broccoli. Cook until crisp and tender; for 4 minutes.
    3. Remove from skillet and set aside. Add remaining oil to skillet. Stir in beef and garlic. Cook until browned, about 2 minutes.
    4. Add vegetable mixture back to skillet.
    5. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, and add to skillet.
    6. Combine water and cornstarch to make a smooth paste. Stir into skillet.
    7. Cook until sauce thickens and heated through.
    Serve with rice or Oriental noodes, if desired.
