Ingredients (serves 8)

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups water ; cold
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 6 tablespoons cocoa powder

  • Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350F.
    2. Mix the dry ingredients, add the wet ingredients.
    3. Stir until smooth. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
    Makes two layers of a two-layer 9inch or 8-inch round cake, or one small sheet cake. When cool, frost and enjoy. A nice creamy chocolate flavor :o)
