The seedlike fruit of a biennial Eurasian herb (Carum carvi) in the parsley family, having finely divided leaves and clusters of small, white or pink flowers, used as a seasoning.


Caraway seeds are often found in recipes that also contain fennel seeds, buttermilk, sauerkraut, celery seed, rye flour and raisins
